General Information of Fairy Shrimp Thailandensis

Fairy Shrimp Thailandensis or Branchinella thailandensis (scientific name) is in the family Thamnocephalidae (Sanoamuang et al., 2002). Fairy shrimp swim in a supine position and eat by filter feed. When the Fairy Shrimp swim, they create a stream of water, contributing to the dense aggregation of food between their leg. Then, the food is blown into the sticky substance that is excreted in the mouth and is swallowed up.

Adult size: length 1.5-3.9 centimeter
Newly-hatched size: length 0.2-0.4 millimeters (200-400 micrometers)
Reproduce after 14 days of age
Lay only eggs
